On Friday, 23 January 2026, the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ project TechMed3D – Advancing Technical Medicine Education for Personalized 3D-Printed Breast Prosthetics in Western Balkan HEIs was successfully held, marking the official start of this three-year international initiative.
During the meeting, the project coordinator, the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Health Studies, presented the overall project concept, objectives, structure, and expected outcomes. Project partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, and EU member states introduced their institutions, expertise, and roles within the project, laying a strong foundation for effective collaboration in the years ahead.
A dedicated session focused on the presentation of the project work packages, planned activities, implementation timeline, and partner responsibilities. This was followed by constructive discussions addressing ongoing organizational and technical matters, ensuring a shared understanding of next steps and smooth project implementation.
The TechMed3D project aims to strengthen Technical Medicine as an interdisciplinary field integrating engineering, data science, medicine, and 3D technologies. Through the development of new elective courses, the project will enhance the capacities of higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania, while advancing the development of personalized 3D-printed prosthetics as patient-centred healthcare solutions.
As a project partner, DMBIUBIH will actively contribute to educational development, research activities, and the strengthening of collaboration between academia, research institutions, and industry within the framework of the TechMed3D Cluster.
The kick-off meeting marked a successful beginning of the TechMed3D project and demonstrated the strong commitment of all partners to advancing education, innovation, and healthcare in the Western Balkans.
